Top quality legal cannabis. Grown by you, with our help.

Why home grow?

It's Legal.

The number one reason has to be because cannabis flowers are not yet available to conveniently purchase in Minnesota. Even when dispensaries finally do start popping up, they are likely to charge high prices for their highly taxed products. You can start growing your own at home today and have access to a plentiful supply of world class cannabis for the lowest possible prices.

It’s cheap.

The truth is growing your own cannabis at home does come with an initial investment to set up the infrastructure needed for a private indoor garden. Once the proper infrastructure is in place, the operating costs quickly come down, especially in comparison to purchasing from the dispensary on a regular basis.

Under current Minnesota law, you can easily produce more than enough cannabis flowers and cooking and/or baking materials for 2 adult heavy users. We don’t yet know what prices and taxes are going to look like here, but based on our previous experience making purchases in other legal markets in the US, you will likely be paying a premium for legal access.

It’s clean.

Many people prefer organic produce in an attempt to avoid harmful chemicals used in mainstream commercial farming. For the same reasons, you should be concerned about where the cannabis you are consuming is grown and the practices used to grow it. The absolute best way to ensure the product you are consuming is free from harmful chemicals is to grow it yourself, in your own home. You control everything that goes into the plant and decide the practices for growing and harvesting.

The highest quality.

Cannabis flowers grown in small batches get more care and attention than plants grown in massive grow-for-maximum-profit operations. This especially becomes noticeable during the drying and curing process when you compare hand-trimmed buds to machine mass-trimmed buds.

Pros, Cons, FAQs

  • You want unlimited weed of your chosen strain(s)

This is why we grow. Growing your own supply gives you unlimited buds in whatever strain you choose. Once you get the hang of growing, your cupboards will be overflowing with jars of weed and you’ll have to find something to do with it all. On top of the quantity, home growing gives you much greater strain choice than a dispensary or the black market. Growers are also able to choose the growing methods that produce the type of bud effects desired. If you enjoy weed on a regular basis, growing opens up a new world of possibilities for you.

So if you have the space and the interest, you’ll absolutely save money on buying it, and it’s easy to grow quality weed.

    Save money buying marijuana

Growing your own cannabis can be significantly cheaper than buying it from a dispensary or dealer. When you factor in the cost of seeds, soil, water, electricity, and time, it’s clear that growing weed at home can save you a lot of money in the long run. Indoor cannabis growers can often produce better weed than the dispensary for a tiny fraction of the cost.

You can select which cannabis strains you’ll produce

From the start of the growing process, you will be able to select and purchase the cannabis seeds to plant.

You are in control of your marijuana garden.

If you’re growing your plants from seed to harvest, you’ll have total control of what goes into your plants. You want the healthiest and cleanest plants that are free of pesticides or other harmful chemicals.

Quality homegrown cannabis can be better for you than most of the products you’ll get from your local dispensary, not to mention dealer. The further you are from the source, the higher the chance of contamination. This Study in 2024 found 80% of unregulated cannabis in Germany was contaminated. (https://internationalcbc.com/study-finds-80-of-unregulated-cannabis-in-germany-is-contaminated/)

The cannabis industry overall has long had a pesticide and contamination problem. Before cannabis was legal anywhere in the U.S., growers had absolutely no rules and regulations to follow regarding what ends up in their cannabis. Even after programs were established, laws dictated what substances could be used in the growing process; contaminated cannabis often slips through and is sold in dispensaries.

A 2013 study of medical dispensaries in California (https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1155/2013/378168), one of the most mature and well-regulated legal cannabis markets globally, found pesticides and contaminants in amounts large enough to impact people’s health. That shows that no matter how well-regulated a medical program is, growers can still let their standards slip.

If you like the idea of knowing exactly what goes into your cannabis plants at every step in the process, then home growing is likely your best bet. That’s because, from a health perspective, the best way to get the cleanest, least contaminated, harmful pesticide-free cannabis is to grow it yourself.

You always have a stash of marijuana available

Once you have the process of growing cannabis down, you will have your own cannabis inventory. This means you won’t have to worry about finding a supplier, driving to a dispensary and waiting in long lines.

You can use all parts of marijuana plant

When you go to a dispensary, you don’t always get every part of the marijuana plant including the leaves. You can turn all your extra leaves into goodies like hash oil, cannabutter and more. The leaves (often referred to as “trim” or “sugar leaves”) are like getting several free ounces of weed every grow.

    Improved Mental Health

Believe it or not, home growing cannabis will likely help your mental health along with your physical health. That’s right, folks. Growing cannabis, or plants in general, is excellent for your mental health.

Research shows (https://ellisonchair.tamu.edu/files/2019/07/An-Update-of-the-Literature-Supporting-the-Well-Being-Benefits-of-Plants-A-Review-of-the-Emotional-and-Mental-Health-Benefits-of-Plants.pdf) that just being around lush, green plants has been shown to reduce stress and anxiety levels. Growing and caring for plants of your own, however, takes things up another notch.

Additional studies show (https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC6334070/) that those who garden are generally happier overall than those who don’t and offer decreased depression, stress, and anxiety rates. Gardening also lowers the rates by which people need to seek medical attention for pretty much anything. In times like these, anything that decreases the strain on the healthcare system is worth doing.

Gardening can be a zen and calming experience. Not to mention that those who plant harvestable crops like peas, tomatoes, squash, or cannabis get to enjoy the fruits of their labor. Making cannabis oil infused with the cannabis you grew yourself must be just as satisfying as eating a salad full of greens from your garden, right?

Suppose you add the mental health benefits on top of the anxiety, pain, and chronic symptom-reducing power of cannabis. In that case, home growing stands out as a fantastic option for physical and mental health.

More resources available to marijuana cultivators

There is more information regarding growing your own cannabis to marijuana users who have always wanted to give it a shot but never knew how to begin. There are online sites, forums, videos, blogs, and even podcasts that have become popular as more and more cannabis users consider growing their own marijuana.

The last decade has seen huge leaps in grow light technology and the quality of cannabis genetics available to the public. This means that the average home grower who uses good grow lights and quality genetics will consistently produce more and better weed than they did 10 years ago for the same amount of electricity, skill, and effort.

  • Of course, there are also several disadvantages to growing your own cannabis. First, it takes a significant amount of time and effort to maintain a healthy crop. You need to carefully monitor the plants for pests or diseases, ensure that they have enough light and water, and keep an eye on the overall growth process. This can be time-consuming and frustrating for those who don’t have the patience or aren’t particularly interested in horticulture. If you try to start growing marijuana without doing proper research, you will risk ruining your harvest, and losing your investment.

    Cost

While it’s true that growing cannabis at home is costlier upfront, growing cannabis at home will likely save you money in the long run when compared to simply just buying products from the dispensary.

No upcoming long vacations or trips that take you away from home.

If you have a trip planned in the near future, it may not be the best time to start growing. That’s because the average indoor grow takes several months from seed to harvest and it’s difficult to leave plants alone for more than a few days at a time. Before you germinate your seeds, consider whether you have any upcoming family visits or vacations that may interrupt your grow.

    Labor

Of course, time is money, and the big variable these prices don’t account for is labor—how much time you spend building systems, watering, pruning, trimming, and all the other sticky steps involved in growing weed. Some weeks will be less, some more. There’s more work on the bookends—setting up plants in the beginning and harvesting at the end. After harvesting, trimming can take up to eight hours per pound of weed.

You will have to spend time constantly monitoring your garden or indoor grow room. If you neglect your plants, you risk them being ruined by pests, disease, and mold growth which leaves you with worthless cannabis plants, and you will have to start all over.

    Cons: Obtaining Cannabis from Dispensaries

    • More expensive option - Overall, the convenience of having budtenders and cannabis cultivators grow the marijuana for you, adds to the cost of the marijuana products that you will find at a dispensary. Cannabis dispensaries are also heavily taxed so consumers see those taxes included in the price tag. If you are a regular cannabis consumer, you might find that purchasing marijuana from dispensaries is more costly as opposed to growing your own cannabis.

    • May have to travel a distance to find a cannabis dispensary - If you live in a legal marijuana state, some counties still don’t have dispensaries. This means you will have to be willing to travel a bit to get your marijuana.

  • In hydroponic growing, plants do not receive nutrients through the soil, but rather are fed through liquid solutions that directly supply nutrients, water, and oxygen to the roots. It includes a closed-tubed system that feeds the plants automatically, as the roots are immersed in water, as opposed to dirt. This is a more modern technique that requires equipment and skill.

    Pros

    • Automated system with less daily maintenance

    • More efficient which can lead to faster and greater yields

    • More control over the exact nutrients you are feeding our plants

    • Less chance of pests or fungus (no need for pesticides)

    • Very water-efficient, resulting in much less water use and waste

    Cons

    • Harder to fix errors because of the watering system

    • More elaborate and complicated set-up and process

    • More expensive and requires equipment

    • No natural nutrients like in soil, so all nutrients have to be administered by the grower

  • Simple: Better Quality Products

The more care and attention the plants receive the better quality marijuana product you will end up being able to smoke or consume.

It’s all about balance when it comes to making the healthiest decisions about your cannabis. Getting the best quality equipment and cannabis plants you can without breaking the bank is an excellent first step. From there, you’ll want to use the best fertilizers, growth supplements, and natural pesticides to use on your plants that aren’t detrimental to your overall health.

As you plant your marijuana garden, you will choose if you’d like to use pesticides, fertilizers, or grow organically.
